- The Cité Internationale de la Dentelle et de la Mode

introducing the exhibition

After several years of project design and development, work has started on the Cité Internationale de la dentelle et de la mode on the site of the former Boulart factory. The museum will open its doors in 2009.

To let the public see how the project is progressing the exhibition will enable visitors to observe a few facets of future presentations: architectural plans, the site’s functional elements, museographic options, presentation of the circuit’s five themed areas...

It takes the form of a "work in progress": a film showing the  work on the Boulart site, experimental lace displays, restored relief map of Calais, micro-suction of textile pieces, interactive terminal, artists’ plans...

About the exhibition

The paper Sur  le quai regularly reports on the work site’s progress and forthcoming operations. Issue n° 2 came out in October 2007. It is available free of charge.

Textile workshops :

The workshop shows participants how to customise a pair of shoes or boots… as well as all kinds of accessories made of leather or leatherette (not suede), such as bags. Cut-out paper patterns will be applied in gluing and varnishing work.
